One of the major differences with school now and years ago is that school work is being done on computers now, whereas computers were not required before. I cannot stand it.
Tfw your college teacher gives your paper a zero saying you did not turn it in, but you double check that it is and well it is turned in. So you tell her, and she says she will grade it today, but she still hasn't graded since 12 hours of response.
Btw, I thought the "update" we are all fearing was released last week. It was not released. The update was a dependency update for something like Visual C++ Redistributable or .NET . It had nothing to do with the Sven Co-op game update itself.
Unfortunately since Sven Co-op 5 is integrated with Steam as it is, there would probably be no way to work around the update properly. There possibly may be a real hacky workaround, but it likely isn't legal to do something like that either since it is operating through the Steam network. I thought about that before the Sven Co-op 5.03 update came out months ago lol... but there is still a chance it is possible and a chance that it is legal. I am not sure really.
I suggested before that if Sven Co-op 5 takes a turn for the worse, we might just have to set up some Sven Co-op 4.8 servers and only people with a copy of Half-Life would be able to play. I personally wish there was Linux server support for Sven Co-op 3.0. We would already be running servers for 3.0 if there was Linux support.
HS will be ending this Friday, College will be ending the next Friday after. I'll be starting work on the 20th, doing Full time Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Very sad to see this happen to the Sven Community. Would be even sadder to see development die down due to missing Documentation and excessive breakage. Unfortunate I wasn't able to get on the past few weeks to play and keep the XP:NW server running without abusive players due to college and high school :/
If only there was a way to go observer mode in non-survival maps. I don't know. For players that just want to watch others play? XD Or for admins to watch players easily.

I've tried local with my friend on restriction, it does lagged compare to single-player mode. I agreed with edit for multiplayer-compatible. and maybe can you fix "crystal" too?
V The only reason that I lag is flashlight or too much lights. Especially at "crystal", I have to turn off it dynamic, in exchange for confusion in a dark vent.
Had a problem with XPM server on one of the restriction maps. I am not sure if it was a bug with map, or incompatibility with experience mod, or something else was going on. It needs to be tested. I can't even remember what the problem was right now. Quite a few maps are going to be added. So far, Auspices and Afrikakorps have been added to the cycle of the servers. The crashes have also reduced, which is great. The problem with Restriction could have been related to using the "svencoop" directory rather than the "svencoop_addon"directory for all custom content. Since moving all custom content (except for hats mdoels) into the svencoop_addon directory, the crash frequency of the servers is far less. It's just really hard. I'm sure if we double the health of all the enemies we can basically recreate misfire's headshot only server (since headshots are double damage) and we could even run this on XPM servers just to turn off XPM, but give players medpaks
Hmm I think you are on to a good idea there Mr. Robot I will set up map and script on a private server to see. I haven't tried the nm_uspninjas map yet. Misfire has been hosting a server dedicated to it 24/7, so it much be something special lol
There are ways to do it. I actually spent about two weeks learning this part of the mapping system, and it works. The regular Sven Coop servers will work fine with them. All that is generally required is setting a map script, which is simple. Doing it for every single map would not be a problem. I have learned how to edit multiple lines at once in 1000's of files all at once if needed. I have already made plans to include weapon script with all maps, but have not yet done it with any of the public servers. I have done it on a private linux server and my own local windows servers without any problems.
I have a suggestion about the medal system again. It's good that it's raised to 500 to get a medal especially for maps that give too much points. The thing is, not all maps have enough going on for a player to reach that number. This might take time to work on and balance out for fairness but if the number is lowered in certain maps like HL Campaign and raised very high like in defendthefort.
I think "Hats" are being added back to Sven Coop SCXPM servers soon I fixed a problem w/ them and even figured out how to get a couple additional settings to work. Everyone will be able to use hats for now, but certain hats will be reserved for those with access to them. Hopefully the plugins will be functioning on the servers within the next 24 hours.
The speed control setting on Half Life campaign has temporarily been disabled until finding a better setting. I can see why it is undesirable with current settings. There is not many other ways to stop people from speed running. It will be added back when I find a way to implement the code differently, and I will try to add a vote option.
if u dont believe me just make a test map with a skybox set sv_gravity 800 to 0 jump till u hit the box and strafe in the air like u would normally do which actually results the player in gaining speed
also sven coop isnt based of the HL1 engine so even bhopping will be the same plus anti gravity just gives people more distance when they bhop than their overall speed
besides anyone can play the maps themselves in single player and everything would be a cakewalk once every player on the bloody earth knows the game start to finish
The problem with that is needing to edit every single map and rename all the files. Hopefully the next Sven Coop update will implement this feature, but I am not counting on it. The proper way to handle it would be to use KeyValues dealing with trigger_changelevel "percent_of_players". There are many ways to deal with this, but for now the short-term solution is reducing player speed. We do not have enough moderators to monitor all the servers all the time. I would suggest a way, I know that some server that I've been across required 2-3 person to be within range of "Map Change" in order to take effect. Or, there should be more admin/mod monitoring within the server for some other maps?
It is intended to do that for now. Slowing down should only work on the HL Campaign, and anti-gravity device being disabled on being damaged is currently for all maps which anti-gravity is enabled. This is designed to discourage people from speed-running through the maps. I have seen so much complaining about speed-running that it makes me sick. If needed, the damage effect dealing with speed or gravity can be disabled on certain maps or permanently. This is just an experiment basically..
I hoped, and can you fix damage effect? Everytime you either damaged yourself or other entities damage you, it will make you slow down and removed anti-gravity. Or is it intended to do that?
Yes it has been thought about. And yes, there may be information about skills regarding percentages eventually. Neither of these ideas will become reality any time soon unless someone else other than me wants to do it. The -sp_campaign_portal map is bugged and needs to be fixed before adding support for Opposing Force or Blue Shift on our servers. I would like to wait until after the next Sven Coop update to investigate the Opposing Force or Blue Shift campaigns. I am hoping the -sp_campaign_portal is fixed in the next update, or else we might need to fix it ourselves.
Will there be any post that explain about the SCXPM skills statistic? Like how many percentage will health/armor/ammo, etc. increase per skillpoint, also comparison on what it look like?
Btw, this is a perfect job for Credits Mod, which could be handling the Medals and Trading Writing to a vault file and not clearing it until map has changed would remove the possibility of people rejoining game to try to continually gain xp or medals. Yes, I am still planning on adding Credits Mod now that I am mostly done working on the SCXPM code. Hopefully Metamod and AMXX are just as stable, if not more stable, in the next Sven Coop update. I am reluctant to work on any Sven Coop AMXX code projects at this point until finding out. So, anything additional like Credits Mod possibly will not be added until after the update.
I figured there would be some form of exploitation of the frag bonus system lol.... this will be sorted out eventually. For now the limit has been raised to 500 on all maps, and inv_dojo limit is 1000. I have ideas how to work around this, but even better I have ideas for how to discourage or completely remove potential for exploitation. The medals and xp system is not "troll-proof "yet, but it is getting there. Thank you for the feedback. Hopefully I can create a work-around sometime today until I can figure out how to eliminate chance for exploit. The medals and frag bonus system may change into something else if it is too much of a problem to deal with It is optional and is mainly a replacement for the eggs lol...something extra you know? I thought about restricting medal gaining and trading to only lower level players on certain maps as a temporary work-around.
inv_dojo might not be abused for XP anymore but I feel like it would be abused for medals now. The medal system is triggered by player getting points or frags as the game notif says so.. And in that map, a single hit on the enemy gives like 5-10 points. I could get 100 points in less than 2 minutes in that map.
What if we just set the number higher? Instead of just 100 points make it 500 or add another requirement. Also, a player could only have 15 medals. We should at least make medals a bit harder to get.
I discovered a flaw in the new Medal/XP trading feature in the XPMod. Right now it's designed to as, you can only get ONE medal once you reach 100 points and you can trade XP/Medals only ONCE. But when you reconnect to the server, even if it's still the same map, the entire system resets. I can gain medals and trade again. That might be bad.
The bug may be related to map configuration, but I am not sure yet. I will test it, and if possible I will add back the weapons for ammo skill. They spawn in place where the player is and weapon is given, and it creates a permanent spawn point lol...not a great thing..
Thank goodness sniper and RPG ammo regen aren't removed. Those weapons use ammo so fast. Also, the ammo regen for weapons that were removed, was that because those items kept spawning in the same spot after you left it? Most noticeable on Sandstone
The medals are not unique in any way other than they work the same way as awareness, but awareness and medals are different with certain skills. An example is Team Power ammo regen only works if you have awareness and ammo regen, but uses medals of both players to speed up the rate. Another example is the Anti-Gravity Device using medals as a factor for how much to reduce a player's gravity.
Thanks for the tip about Crowbar and Medkit can recover quicker, will medals be unique? I believe all medals that I've collected are acting the same as awareness
Looks like the grenades, tripmines, snarks, and satchels need to be removed from the ammo regen lol.... sorry about that...was a neat idea, but there is a glitch with the give_item of AMXX and Angelscript which creates entities spawn points every time a player receives item...If a cleanup script for the entity was possible, it can be added back, but until then there is no way around removing this feature I tried to add.
Yes. Health Regeneration and Nano Armor were unbalanced before and did not matter which level of Health Regeneration or Nano Armor a player had (Level 1 was the same as Level 300). Now it actually matters how many levels of skill there are. Full Health Regeneration / Nano Armor + Awareness + Medals = fastest regeneration possible (as fast as before, except code only runs once a second instead of once every 1/2 a second) Hold out Medkit for faster Health Regeneration. Hold out Crowbar or Pipewrench for faster Nano Armor.
Does that mean health & armor regeneration will be slower than usual? I've notice a drastic drop in health and armor yesterday, barely survive any attack

What doesn't register? It only counts up frags one time currently, and resets every map. So, you can only gain 1 medal per map if you reach the frag limit (the limit is currently at 100, raised from 50, and on maps like osprey the limit may be as higher like 500 frags). There is an XP Bonus if you have max medals and reach the frag limit. The incentive to trade medals is only desirable if you want to gain levels faster, and the incentive to trade experience points is only desirable if you wish to have skill powers increased by the medals factor. The idea is to replace the eggs and discourage xp farming by adding something extra for gaining skill. Eventually, it may be changed again, and things may be added or removed to the mod that don't currently exist.

You can also say "/trademedal" or "trademedal" in chat to trade a medal for experience points. The level of experience goes up as your rank changes. You can also trade the same amount of experience points back for a medal by saying "/tradexp" or "tradexp"
Medals increase regeneration rate for health, armor, and ammo, and increases team power distance range, and increase the amount of hp or armor given with team power, and increases chance of block attack, and increases health and armor (overall and on spawn[?]), and increases anti-gravity device amount slightly. There may be more the medals can do or different function eventually, but for now that is basically what they do. Awareness is very similar to medals by increasing the regeneration rates of health and armor, increases amount of health and armor (overall and on spawn), increases team power distance range, increases team power health and armor distribution amounts, increases ammo regeneration rate of team mate, increases block attack chance, and possibly a few other things I can't think of right now. Holding out crowbar, pipewrench, or medpack will also increase regeneration rates of armor and hp with awareness and medals.
Since the EU SCXPM server emptied out, I decided to upload the new XP Mod version to it with semi-updated server configuration. Please let me know if there are any problems There haven't been any problems with the US NW server, so I decided it is probably ok...If needed, it can be switched back easily enough.
Yes, and there is also the chat commands "tradexp" and "trademedal" to trade xp for a medal, or trade a medal for xp... now people can actually see what medals do, although the changes are somewhat hard to notice in some cases. I will describe in detail about what each skill does differently now and what medals do when I make a changelog.
New SCXPM version loaded on Seattle location for testing to see how well it goes. It will be using all-new configuration for many different things. If you care to try it, it is on there right now. If this works out ok, this version will loaded on the NYC server next, and the Europe server.

Thank you Shadow Knight for putting Server Rules on the MOTD of the US Servers. I just hope that would send something in the minds of the players that the game is moderated and under control. Bad eggs just have to be dealt with personally.

I see membership ranking as an identifier of your responsibility and your efforts. Newer members can look up to higher ranked members for guidance as well. However, no matter your rank, there should be respect for everyone. I do not believe one rank grants someone power to act like some sort of Alpha-male, dictator, and all around asshole. We are here to work together and make ModRiot into a thriving community of supportive people who just love to game!
I don't think usergroup titles in the case of the Map Testing server are necessary much, but for other purposes it is a helpful system for organization. My point about that Map Test server is that everyone is equal and no one is in charge of how the map testing server gets ran. It is a very flexible situation that requires people to co-operate together and pay attention to detail. Usergroup titles and community status do nothing to aid individuals in co-operation among each other and paying close attention to detail. I guess we don't really NEED ranks in some cases, but it is very helpful organizing and delegating tasks. My guess is that CyberNinja is just testing something? ... either way, we appreciate the help regardless of his usergroup title
i don't see why we need ranks or specific usergroup things when swamp himself doesn't like it as referenced by the sc maptest post, but more things to help out with would be fine

I am not sure when I am going to be putting it on the servers, but it will be soon. I will announce it when I do, and I will post a changelog with as much detail as possible to inform everyone of what has been changed.
Weird happenings from the US:NW Server. There was this player his in-game name was "The Wall". He just keeps on saying "I'm the wall." Over and over again. And theres this one kid who just hated it. The Wall just minding his own bizz when this kid just disses The Wall. AH GOD! I just wish someone saw it. Best game ever. AHAHAHAH!
Remove health regen and you lose the OP factor of the SCXPM, which equals in the playerbase dying, since they're playing on those servers because they enjoy the skills and also not having to worry basically.
SCXPM adds EXP with the amount of Frags you have. And you can't obtain NPC Damage from Sven coop anymore using the Damage Hook, it was removed by the devs themselfs.
Good point, Robot. It could probably be separated through an if statement, but the separation of attacker issue remains. I don't think you get points added to Score/Frag for repairing things though, I need to double check that.
don'r hook player damage with XP gain, all SCXPM players have near infinite ammo, and even after that, SC doesn't separate player damage and monster damage.

What if... Repairing in some Sven maps gives XP or Points? It just makes sense in maps like defendthefort. Surely or toadsnatch, being a bro and repairing the base should be rewarded with something.
i love the spy Rune on the CS server only 1 downside it can only detect 1 random player so even if it was a 1 vs 5 u wouldnt have the best advantage even with the spy Rune
i think the last time i was even on here i kinda snapped plus this is the only server where i actually tried being nice because of how addicting it was at first but temptations here and there wanted me to snap but i resisted it until that day...
Yea the next server uunder works other than the darkrp will be a gmod deathrun server., that way we will have a server in every major game mode, Upping our chances players will stay on our network when waning to play a new gamemode.
The ranks were just updated & they will most definitely be enforced. And the jobs will be followed with the description, if the said person doesn't do their job, they won't hold the rank.
the project should be in a manga, or a animation drawing but i got an idea of animating it on 3d to make it more awesome but we will be needing map makers and making custom models

We've only recently worked on this small project but we hope to have some people that can help us. And if someday this might succeed, the story maps we would make would probably be added to our Servers. As of now we're still in planning stages.
Honestly, I'm glad I found this community. I really love Mods, a good handful of them are quality games and I wish they got more attention. With a community like this, it does help bring about that attention and keep the spirit alive for those games. Thank you for providing the servers!

I have been recoding scxpm to disable skills by cvar. For example: if we don't want Anti-Gravity on a map like zoology10, we can disable the skill while keeping the rest of SCXPM skills active...
No...there isn't really a designated "rule", but there may be a need for it eventually. Is there a reason why you are concerned about it, or just curious?
like there's a soldier choosing to kill one player if he died he will be teleported to the death base where he use the traps then the rest a portal will open to get into the run
Jonnyboy helpted with motivating me to fix the XPmod code on our servers, as well as other plugins, so I have been doing that all day lol.. the gameplay of SCXPM will be quite different soon. If you haven't done so yet, check out Jonnyboy's RPG Mod server setup @ 5.9.66.170:27102 (still in development). The "Members Only" server has currently been transformed into the RPG Mod server. There may be more members-only servers eventually, but for now the only members-only server has been discontinued.
Testing restriction now w/ Mr. Smith on US NW server.. I am not quite sure what problem is, but it appears to be fine. This map will likely be added back to the regular servers. The XP Mod may need to be disabled on these restriction maps.
A few maps that were recently added to Sven Coop servers have been removed and need to be tested thoroughly. Hopefully we will be adding even more maps soon. Ragemap2012, marioland3alphb, labflee, Source of Life, and Restriction have been removed for now. Many of the newly added maps need to be tested further, with and without Metamod..
